In 1978 Ferranti AAC affiliated to the Scottish Cross Country Union, the governing body for Males in cross country. From then as well as cross county club members competed in the Edinburgh Marathon which started in 1982, Inter Departmental works races at Inverleith Park and various road races.

In 1992 the Scottish Athletics Federation was formed bringing the governing bodies for Male and Females together. However it wasn’t until 1998 that Women started running for the club Susana Gonzalez and Moira Nicol being the first. From 2000s onwards Women became a major part of the club.

In 2025 it was decided for a variety of reasons the club should be wound up
